The two main categories of aggregates are crushed and gravel. Gravel is more decorative and is typically used in exposed areas. Crushed aggregate is usually used as a base material and to facilitate drainage.
Crushed aggregates are angular in shape and are typically used if compaction is required such as for driveways, walkways, patios, drainage ditches, window wells, and for filling large holes.
Gravel has naturally rounded edges, are colorful and are typically used as decorative landscape material such as in planting beds, pathways, and to fill joints in paver and natural stone patios. Gravel can also be used for exposed aggregate applications; mortar and concrete mixes.

Mulch makes your flower beds look great, but it does a great deal more. Mulch retards week growth and helps plants thrive by maintaining even soil temperature and preventing rapid water evaporation. Mulch adds nutrients to your existing soil and reduces the need for additional soil amendments.
