Irregular wallstone is preferred for attractive walls that look rustic and simple. More work is involved in constructing a wall because stones may need to be broken and straightened. Graded in thickness as 2” to 3” or 3” to 5”, irregular wallstone may be purchased bulk or on pallets. Stones, which may be limestone or sandstone, range in size from approximately one square foot to four square feet per piece. They are referred to as local wall stone because the stones come from Ohio.
Presplit wallstone is an excellent choice to build a wall with minimal amount of work. Many landscapers also prefer this product because they can erect a large wall in a short time and eliminate most of the hammer work involved with irregular wall stone. Presplit wallstone has been presplit at the source to about 8” in width and graded in thickness that is usually 2” to 3”, or 3” to 5” in random lengths. These stones, which may be limestone, sandstone or bluestone, are on pallets.
